For January we are very fortunate to have Gianna "Gigi" Ruggiero (www.giannaruggiero.com) joining us to talk about Character Design! Gianna is an amazing illustrator working at Harmonix as a concept artist. In addition to Harmonix, Gigi's work has done work for Pixar and the movie Paranorman.

The artwork Gigi makes is beautifully concise and direct. It's very difficult to boil down so much character into such an honest and clear statement. Spending some time with an artist so experienced with character design is of great value no matter what your discipline or style. This talk will apply to anything from graphic design to painting to game development and more.

Come join us for the usual talk and hang out, and please share and repost as much as you like for the talk. We'll be hosting at the Boston Academy of Realist Art (THANK YOU JULIE). Give a call to (978) 758-8968 if you can't find the building or have difficulty getting in.

DRAWING AND PAINTING IN THE BOSTON COMMON

WHEN: Saturday, May 9 at 12:00
WHERE:  The Boston Commons

Our next meeting is outdoors to celebrate no more snow (let's cross fingers)! No speakers, demo or anything like that. Just a chance to hang out and make art... Bring your easels, sketchbooks or whatever you want to draw or paint with.

We'll meet at noon at the statue of Washington on the horse. It's right here...

The statue is right at the edge of the garden in sight of the bridge where the duck boats go under. The nearest cross-streets are Arlington and Commonwealth Ave. Let me know if you don't know where to find this. My phone is (978) 758-8968. Don't hesitate to give a call if you have any questions or can't find us.

We had a great time and I shot a few (very few) shots of people drawing.  GREAT artists doing GREAT drawing!  We all went out for dinner at Harvard Square right after so good times....
